Our Story — From Venezuela, to Panama, to Orlando

We are a family of professionals who made the difficult decision to emigrate from Venezuela to Panama in search of a better future. Our journey began in 2015, inspired by the birth of our greatest motivation — our daughter, Salma. Her arrival gave us the courage to start over and build something meaningful.

In Panama, we embraced a new life. We learned different systems, adapted to new techniques, and discovered the true value of hard work. Though our backgrounds are in petroleum engineering, life led us down a different path — into the world of painting. What started as a necessity became a craft, then a calling.

In 2025, we brought that craft to Central Florida and founded Third Coat. The name reflects what we believe about our work: the third coat is the one that makes the difference. The two before it are necessary. The third is where the finish you remember comes from.

What Makes Third Coat Different

We are not the cheapest painter in Orlando. We are not trying to be. What we offer instead:

• European-grade cabinet finishes. We work primarily with Milesi 2K polyurethanes, Renner waterborne systems, and ILVA IVM lines — the same finishes used in Italian and Spanish luxury cabinetry. For lacquer projects we use Chemcraft, Sherwood, and Magnamax. We explain the trade-offs in every estimate.
• A documented seven-step refinishing process. Degrease with Krud Kutter, scuff sand, Bondo repairs, high-build primer, color coats, topcoat when required, hardware reinstallation. Same process every project. We do not skip steps.
• Five-day standard timeline. Most kitchens go from start to finish in five working days. Larger projects with islands, pantries, or repairs may run six or seven days. You will know the schedule before we start.
• Bilingual service. English and Spanish, written and spoken. Estimates, contracts, and on-site communication in whichever language works for you.
• Eleven years in the trade. Sprayed finishes only — HVLP, air-assisted airless, traditional airless depending on the substrate. No brush marks. No roller texture on cabinet doors.
• Workmanship guarantee. Every project comes with our written workmanship guarantee. If a finish fails because of how we applied it, we fix it.

We provide four core services across Orlando and the surrounding Central Florida region:

• Cabinet refinishing — our flagship service, with luxury work focused in Winter Garden, Windermere, and Dr. Phillips.
• Interior painting — walls, ceilings, trim, doors, with proper preparation and the brand of paint that fits your wall and your budget.
• Exterior painting — stucco, hardie, wood, vinyl, brick. We pressure wash, repair, and prime before any color goes on.
• Commercial painting — offices, retail, restaurants, medical buildings, and property management portfolios. Particularly active in Lake Nona.

Service Area

Third Coat serves all of Central Florida — Orlando, Winter Garden, Windermere, Lake Nona, Dr. Phillips, Apopka, Clermont, Ocoee, Lake Mary, Sanford, Oviedo, and Kissimmee. We will travel outside Central Florida for the right project. Our specialty markets are luxury cabinet refinishing in Winter Garden and Windermere, and commercial painting in Lake Nona.

Built by Darwin Medina

Third Coat is founded and run by Darwin Medina. Almost eleven years in the painting trade across Venezuela, Panama, and Florida. Originally trained as a petroleum engineer, redirected into the craft by life and necessity, and shaped by years on residential and commercial job sites. Every estimate, every project plan, every customer conversation goes through Darwin directly. There is no sales team, no call center, and no subcontracting.
