Wallpaper installation
We install wallpaper of every kind: traditional pre-pasted and unpasted papers, vinyl, peel-and-stick, grasscloth, fabric, and large-format mural panels. A successful wallpaper install lives or dies on the prep work behind it, which is why we treat every wall like a finished paint job before the first strip even goes up. Our installations include ceiling work when the design calls for it, like the powder room shown above.
Our wallpaper installation process
- Wall inspection and prep. We patch nail holes, sand glossy paint, scrape any loose material, and fix any minor drywall damage so the wall is smooth and clean.
- Pattern measurement and dry layout. We measure the wall, calculate strip layouts, and dry-fit the pattern so repeats line up perfectly across seams and around windows, doors, and corners.
- Wall priming. We apply the right wallpaper primer for your substrate, which is critical for clean future removal and for preventing seams from telegraphing.
- Cutting, pasting, and hanging. Strips are cut to length with a margin for trim, pasted (or activated, for pre-pasted papers), and booked when the paper requires it before going on the wall.
- Seam alignment and trimming. Strips are hung plumb, smoothed to remove air pockets, and pattern-matched at every seam. Excess at the ceiling, baseboard, and door casings is trimmed flush.
- Final cleanup and inspection. Seams are wiped down, any paste residue is removed, and we walk the room with you to confirm everything looks right.
Wallpaper removal
Removing old wallpaper is a craft of its own. Done wrong, it tears the drywall paper underneath and leaves a wall that needs a full skim coat before anything new can go on it. Done right, the wallpaper comes off cleanly and the wall is ready for primer the next day. We use the right method for each kind of paper: dry strip when the paper allows it, steam for vinyl-backed and older installs, and enzyme or solvent solutions for stubborn adhesives.
Our wallpaper removal process
- Protection of floors, trim, and fixtures. Drop cloths, plastic, and tape go down first so the room stays clean while we work.
- Test patch. We identify the paper type and adhesive so we can pick the gentlest effective removal method.
- Steam, score, or solvent application. Depending on the test patch, we steam the paper, score the top vinyl layer, or apply a removal solution to soften the adhesive.
- Careful peeling in sections. Paper comes off in manageable strips, keeping the drywall paper underneath intact whenever possible.
- Adhesive residue cleanup. Remaining paste is washed off with hot water and a wallpaper enzyme so nothing telegraphs through the next finish.
- Wall prep for the next finish. If the wall is going to be painted or rewallpapered, we sand, patch any damaged spots, and skim coat where needed so it is ready for the next step.

Do you install wallpaper that the customer buys?
Yes. Most of our wallpaper jobs use paper that the homeowner or designer has already picked out. We are happy to work with any brand or style you bring us, from big-box rolls to designer brands and custom murals. If you want a recommendation we can suggest options that hang well and hold up over time.
How long does a wallpaper installation take?
A simple accent wall is usually a half day to a full day. A powder room or small bathroom is typically one day. Larger rooms, ceilings, or busy patterns that require careful matching can run one to two days. Wall prep before installation may add extra time if the wall needs significant repair.
Can you wallpaper a ceiling?
Yes. Ceilings are one of our favorite wallpaper applications, especially for powder rooms and small luxury spaces where a ceiling treatment transforms the room. The powder room shown above has wallpaper continuing across the ceiling, which is a detail most installers will not touch.
Do you remove old wallpaper before installing new?
Yes. Removal is always done first when there is existing wallpaper. We never install over old paper because seams telegraph, adhesion suffers, and removal in the future becomes a nightmare. Removal of old paper is quoted as part of the same project.
Do you offer wallpaper removal as a standalone service?
Yes. Plenty of clients hire us only to remove old wallpaper so they can paint, install new paper themselves, or prep the wall for a different finish. The removal alone is a valid project and we treat it as such, including full wall prep at the end.

We test first, choose the right method, and work in sections, so most walls come out clean and ready for the next finish with light prep.
