Cabinet Refreshing in Orlando, FL. Kitchen Modifications, New Hoods, Island Upgrades & Repaint
A full kitchen update without a full remodel. We install new range hoods, modify your island, add decorative panels, change hardware, and repaint your existing cabinets so the entire kitchen feels brand new. The result is dramatic, at a fraction of the cost and time of a complete renovation.
What is cabinet refreshing?
Cabinet refreshing is more than just a paint job. We combine structural modifications to your kitchen with a full cabinet repaint so that the modernized elements blend seamlessly with everything else. This is the right service when your cabinets are in good shape but the kitchen as a whole needs an update, a new hood, a redesigned island, fresh panels, modern hardware, or a complete color change.
Refreshing is the right call when:
- Your cabinet boxes and doors are solid but the kitchen design feels dated
- You want to install a new range hood, modify your island, or add decorative panels
- You want to update hardware, change wall colors, and repaint cabinets all at once
- You want a coordinated transformation that goes beyond a single paint job
Refreshing vs Refinishing vs Refacing, which one do you need?
| Service | What we do | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Refreshing | Kitchen modifications (hood, island, panels, hardware) + full cabinet repaint. | A coordinated kitchen update, more than paint, less than a remodel. |
| Refinishing | Full degrease, sand, prime and spray a new color on the existing doors and boxes. | A complete color change while keeping the original doors. |
| Refacing | Brand-new doors, drawer fronts, hardware and veneer on the boxes. | A full style change, modern slab fronts, panel-ready appliances, new wood species. |

What we modify in a typical refreshing project
- Range hood installation or replacement, new hood styles (chimney, insert, custom paneled), repositioning, ductwork modifications.
- Island modifications, expanding the footprint, adding storage, installing decorative panels, adding waterfall countertop ends, or adding seating overhang.
- Decorative panels, end panels on islands and tall cabinets, panel-ready dishwasher and refrigerator covers, accent panels in contrasting colors.
- Hardware change, modern pulls, knobs, soft-close hinges, or push-to-open mechanisms.
- Full cabinet repaint, degrease, sand, prime and spray everything with premium paint to match or contrast with the new modifications.
Our process
- In-home consultation, we walk through your kitchen, listen to what’s bothering you about it, and recommend modifications that solve the problem.
- Design & material order, we order the hood, panels, hardware and any custom millwork; you approve color samples.
- Modifications first, install the new hood, modify the island, add panels, swap hardware. We handle any electrical or ducting changes needed.
- Cabinet prep & paint, degrease with Krud Kutter, sand all surfaces, fill imperfections, prime, and spray the new color (2 coats + clear topcoat where appropriate).
- Reinstall & final touches, doors and drawer fronts go back on, all hardware aligned, every detail dialed in.
- Walkthrough, we don’t leave until you’re happy with every element.

Frequently asked questions about cabinet refreshing
What is cabinet refreshing and when is it the right choice?
Cabinet refreshing is a light-touch service that combines cleaning, scuff sanding, minor repairs, and a fresh coat of the existing color. It is the right choice when your cabinets are structurally sound and the color is still right, but the surface looks worn or scratched.
How is refreshing different from full refinishing?
Refinishing strips down to bare wood or primer and applies a brand new color. Refreshing keeps the existing finish, scuffs it, fills minor damage, and recoats. Refreshing is faster and less expensive than full refinishing.
How long does cabinet refreshing take?
Most refreshing projects take two to three days, including drying time. Hardware is usually reused unless you want to upgrade it.
Will the refreshed finish hold up long term?
Yes, when prep is done right. We always degrease with Krud Kutter, scuff sand thoroughly, and use a topcoat designed for cabinetry. The refreshed finish should hold up just as well as the original.
